July 25, 2014 - July 27, 2014 |
Description: | From Washburn Brownstone Summerfest Website: Washburn's Summerfest, with a variety of activities planned for Friday through Sunday, July 25th through the 27th, is also aptly named Brownstone Summerfest (and Homecoming every 5th year). That part of the name for the summer celebrations is to call attention to the city's rich history. It honors all of the still existing buildings made of locally quarried brownstone.
Local examples of these brownstone buildings include the Bayfield County Courthouse, the Catholic Church, City Hall, the library, museum-cultural Center, bookstore, dentistry office and even a hardware store. The story of these brownstones is not confined to Washburn.
Further information about the brownstones and Washburn's unique history is available by contacting the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce, located on the main street, across from Leino's Gas Station, or by phoning (***) ***-****. The chamber is also a sponsor of the summer Homecoming celebration which once every five years (2015) is magnified into a more school-oriented homecoming.
