Description: | From Wilton Wood Turtle Days Website: Nestled in southeastern Monroe County, Wilton is home to approximately 519 people. Known as the heart of the Elroy-Sparta bike trail, this small village comes to life the first weekend in August.
Dating back to the late 1970s, our festival was formerly known as Wilton Fun Fest. The name change occurred as a result of road construction tying the towns of Wilton and Ontario together on HWY 131. While planning the original route, endangered Wood Turtles were discovered. To preserve the habitat, the highways route was changed.
The following year (1992), our festivals title was officially changed to Wilton Wood Turtle Days in honor of our endangered friends.
